Player Debut
Parthiv Patel is a former Indian cricketer who became well-known as a talented wicket-keeper and left-handed batsman. Born on March 9, 1985, in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, Patel started his cricketing journey early and went on to represent India across multiple international formats.
Early Career
Patel’s remarkable talent earned him a place in the Indian cricket team, and at just 17 years and 153 days old, he became the youngest wicket-keeper in Test cricket. He made his Test debut against England in 2002 and soon after was part of the squad for the 2003 Cricket World Cup in South Africa.
International Career Highlights
Patel played 25 Test matches, scoring 934 runs with a top score of 71, and featured in 38 One Day Internationals (ODIs), where he scored 736 runs, with a personal best of 95. He also made appearances in two T20 Internationals for India, showcasing his versatility as a cricketer.
Franchise Career
In addition to his international appearances, Patel had a successful franchise career in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played for teams such as Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Sunrisers Hyderabad, accumulating over 2,800 runs in 139 IPL matches.
Post-Playing Career
After retiring from professional cricket, Patel stayed connected to the sport by sharing his knowledge as a commentator and cricket analyst. Recently, he provided valuable insights on India’s prospects in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, particularly emphasizing the importance of Shubman Gill in the team’s performance.
